A beautiful fall day in Colorado Springs made for a perfect wedding at Garden of the Gods! | Kara and Nic
Kara and Nic decided to have their fall wedding at Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. Their wedding day was so stunning. They also had a pre-wedding session on a small hike for amazing sunset and blue hour photos. Then, on their wedding day they got ready together, had the most beautiful ceremony at High Point Overlook, and ended the night with a backyard wedding reception!
Garden of the Gods is a perfect spot for a microwedding. There a few things to consider when choosing to get married here. First, there are a few designated sites where you can have your ceremony with guests. You can see that list here. There are also group size limits at each location. So, for example, High Point Overlook, where Kara and Nic had their ceremony, has a limit of 50 people. However, I recommend no more than 20-30 people at High Point Overlook, especially since parking can be limited.
Another thing to note is that each location is first-come-first-serve. Since you can not reserve any spot for your ceremony, you definitely need to have backup locations in case there are too many people or even another ceremony happening at the same time. Garden of the Gods can be quite a busy location, so I definitely recommend eloping here on a weekday!
If you are planning a wedding at Garden of the Gods, I would love to help you! I know the best spots in the park for your ceremony and for photos and can guide you through the wedding process in Colorado! Let’s chat!
Pre-wedding sunset session at Siamese Twins
Kara and Nic decided to split their wedding celebrations so they could spend more time with their families on their actual wedding day. So, they chose to have a pre-wedding sunset and blue hour session in Garden of the Gods on a little hike to Siamese Twins. Siamese Twins trail is less than a mile and it’s worth the hike for a gorgeous photo location. When Kara and Nic stepped out of the car, I was in complete awe over their outfits, especially Kara’s stunning sequin dress and matching hiking boots! She totally proved that your wedding dress does not need to be a traditional white gown! We enjoyed the sunset before hiking back down and heading to another location for lantern photos.
We headed to another one of my “hidden gem” locations in Garden of the Gods for evening photos. I was beyond obsessed with the way the lantern light made Kara’s dress shimmer! It was the perfect evening and definitely set the bar high for their wedding day.

Wedding day getting ready
Officially wedding day! Kara and Nic both got ready together in a cute house rental. Their details were so colorful and when I saw Nic’s amazing pink suit, I was in just about as much awe as when I first saw Kara’s dress for their pre-wedding session! These two sure did have the best style for their wedding! We only had one minor hiccup when Kara’s strap snapped on her dress. Thankfully, I always have a little sewing kit with me for emergencies like this, and Kara’s friend was able to sew it back on when we arrived at High Point Overlook, before the ceremony. Soon enough everyone was ready for the wedding!

Wedding Ceremony at Garden of the Gods High Point Overlook
Kara and Nic’s ceremony was led beautifully by Elevate Wedding Officiant. We picked a spot at High Point Overlook with Pikes Peak in the background. Kara and Nic read their vows, had a hand-fasting ceremony with ribbons that matched their amazing outfits, and of course exchanged rings, and shared their first kiss as husband and wife. My favorite moment from their ceremony was when their guests blew bubbles during their first kiss. It was so beautiful and such a perfectly joyous moment! These two truly embraced all of the beauty around them and from their families. It was so special to witness the love they all shared for one another.

License Signing and High Point Overlook Portraits
After their ceremony, they made things official by signing their marriage license and then we took some family photos. After that, we took a few more couples portraits at High Point Overlook before we went to Kara’s sister’s house for their backyard reception!

Backyard wedding reception in Colorado Springs
Kara’s sister lives in Colorado Springs and helped make the most fun and beautiful reception at her house for Kara and Nic. When Kara and Nic made their grand entrance, it was time for the party to begin! Heartfelt toasts were given, tasty Thai food eaten, a beautiful cake cut, and of course their first dance. It was a night to remember!
Congratulations, Kara and Nic!
