Hiking, paddle-boarding, and epic mountain views were all part of this gorgeous Breckenridge Colorado elopement! | Shelby and George
Shelby and George chose to elope in Colorado with their dog so that she could sign their marriage license. They wanted a full day filled with adventure. So, I helped them plan the perfect experience for their Breckenridge Colorado elopement!
Breckenridge is the perfect spot for a Colorado elopement! There are a lot of lodging and dining options in town. There are also plenty of locations close by. These include Keystone, Silverthorne, Dillon, and Frisco. All of these towns also have a lot of great options for places to stay and eat. In addition, Breckenridge is less than two hours from Denver. If you are flying into Denver International Airport, it is a relatively quick drive to get to gorgeous mountain views! Other sought after locations like Telluride, Aspen, or Crested Butte, are much farther from a major airport. Therefore, Breckenridge is a great option if you don’t want to do as much driving when you arrive to Colorado! Finally, Breckenridge also has a ton of gorgeous locations for a mountain-top ceremony.
When most people think of eloping in Breckenridge, they find Sapphire Point Overlook and decide that is where they want to get married. Sapphire Point is beautiful, however, the Breckenridge area has so many other hidden gem locations that are perfect for an elopement day! In fact, there are plenty of spots that do not even require a reservation. Shelby and George chose a hike on Hoosier Pass and some sunset paddle-boarding at Blue Lakes.

Getting Ready
Shelby and George started their day getting ready near Alma, Colorado which is an adorable mountain town not far from Breckenridge. The wonderful A Vow to Artistry worked on Shelby’s hair and makeup, while George got ready in a separate room, so he would not see Shelby until their first look. Their adorable dog joined them for their day. Shelby put a flower collar on her! After getting ready, we made our way to their first stop of the day, Hoosier Pass.

First Look and Getting Ready to Hike!
Before we headed out for Shelby and George’s elopement day hike, they had their first look near the Hoosier Pass parking area. It was so beautiful and emotional! After finally getting to see each other, they got ready for their hike and helped each other put on sunscreen. You always need to be prepared in that Colorado sun!

Colorado Hiking Elopement to Hoosier Pass
We went for a little hike from the Hoosier Pass trailhead, along with their pup. We had a wonderful assistant to help with their dog so they could also enjoy moments, just the two of them. If you want to bring your dog on your elopement day, I always recommend bringing along a family member or friend, or hiring an assistant, to make your day go as smooth as possible! The hike up was so beautiful with mountain views all around us. Hoosier Pass is the perfect spot to elope in Colorado if you are willing to do a short hike!

Breckenridge Colorado Elopement Ceremony on Hoosier Pass
Soon, we reached a beautiful spot for Shelby and George’s ceremony! The mountain views and pine trees were unreal! Their dog stood by and watched as Shelby and George exchanged their vows. The best of part of all was that we did not see anyone else up here during their ceremony! That would be unheard of on such a beautiful summer day at Sapphire Point!
After their heartfelt vows, we took some couples portraits and some photos with their precious pup. Then, it was time to head back down the trail and into town for a late lunch.

Lunch time!
Shelby and George wanted to have a chill lunch on an outdoor patio where their dog could join. So, we decided on Kenosha Breck. There, they enjoyed drinks and burgers, and even ordered a dog-friendly meal! Everyone got to enjoy the celebrations!

Sunset Photos and Paddle-boarding at Blue Lakes
After their late lunch/early dinner, we made our way to Blue Lakes. There, we took some more photos, including some with skis. Skiing is a big part of Shelby and George’s relationship, so they wanted to have a part of that in their wedding photos. Then, their dog signed their marriage license, which may have been the cutest part of the day! Dogs signing marriage licenses is one of the coolest parts about eloping in Colorado!
We ended their time at Blue Lakes with some paddle-boarding and the most epic sunset! Talk about a true adventure elopement in Colorado!

Evening Celebrations
Finally, to end their night, we headed back to their rental where they read letters from their family under twinkle lights. It was so special and romantic! If you don’t plan on inviting family and friends to your elopement, but still want a way to feel like they are included, asking them to write letters is great way to do that. They also had their first dance as husband and wife. Shelby and George’s elopement day is the perfect example of having beautiful experiences on your wedding day, even if you don’t have any quests!
Congratulations, Shelby and George!

The mountain backdrop is such a cool choice for an elopement. Did you catch any wildlife while shooting?
We didn’t see any wildlife this day, but I have seen many mountain goats at the lake before!
