Deren and Sam were enjoying their day with their group of friends, on a ski trip to Colorado. Little did Deren know that Sam would be proposing to her on top of the slopes! Sam was still a beginner skier, but he was determined to surprise Deren since she loves skiing. We worked together to plan the most beautiful Copper Mountain ski proposal!
Copper Mountain is a great ski resort for a surprise proposal. There is such a variety of terrain with stunning views all around. The 360° mountain views at all parts of the mountain make it the perfect spot for skiers of all ski levels from beginner to expert. Don’t worry, no matter your skill level, there are so many beautiful locations to propose on the slopes and I will help you pick the best ones!
Planning a ski proposal
When planning a ski proposal, the first thing to consider is which of Colorado’s countless resorts you want to go to. I have both Epic and IKON ski passes, so we can go anywhere you would like! If you can’t decide, I will help you pick based on your vision for the day. After we decide on your location, I will help you pick the specific spot on the mountain where your proposal will take place. This spot can vary depending on whether you are looking for more green, blue, or black terrain.
After we finalize your location, I map it all out for you so you know exactly where to go! From there, we will decide on the best time to meet at the spot. On the day of your proposal, I will be waiting and ready to go capture the moment and then we can hit the slopes together for some fun exploring the mountain.

The Proposal
For Deren and Sam’s proposal, Sam specifically requested a location that would be easily accessed by beginner skiers. Since he was bringing their friends up the mountain, some of whom hadn’t skied much before, I knew the perfect area at Copper Mountain that is beginner friendly, but also has insanely stunning views! They all made their way up the American Flyer Lift (which services more of the beginner terrain at Copper Mountain) and then to the location I had suggested at the top of a smaller lift that goes up to the most beautiful opening.
Sam had planned to get all of their friends to the spot to “take a group photo”. Then, a friend suggested getting some pictures of all the couples on the trip. When it was Sam and Deren’s turn for their photo, I quickly got into position and was ready for Sam to get down on one knee. When Sam proposed, Deren was so surprised. She had no idea and was so excited, jumping up and down and showing her ring off to her friends that watched! Then, all of their friends ran up to them, spraying champagne and congratulating them with hugs! It was such a fun moment!
Celebrating with Friends
Sam and Deren enjoyed some champagne and took some photos with all of their friends to celebrate the moment! Everyone was so happy for them. After they took it all in, it was time for Sam and Deren to enjoy some time just the two of them!
Copper Mountain Ski Engagement Photos
We spent some time taking some engagement photos and of course pictures of Deren’s stunning new ring. Deren also took off her goggles so we could get a photo of her skis, goggles, and ring all together. I love a good ski proposal detail photo!
Hitting the slopes!
Soon, it was time to get some skiing in! We skied down the mountain together and of course had to get some photos on the ski lift as well. Deren could not stop showing off her gorgeous ring even as she skied down the slopes! It was such a magical ski proposal day!
