Gabby and Ryan | A Snowy Rocky Mountain National Park Wedding Session at Sprague Lake
Gabby and Ryan had an intimate wedding in Colorado Springs, CO with their closest family members. You can read about their intimate wedding day here. Of course we got some amazing photos at Garden of the Gods, but they planned to go visit Rocky Mountain National Park the day after their wedding and wanted photos there too! They decided to hop back into their wedding attire and have a Rocky Mountain National Park Wedding Session! It was so beautiful and definitely worth it!

Sprague Lake: The Perfect Location for a Wedding Session!
Since Gabby and Ryan’s session was in February, we needed to pick a location that was relatively accessible in the winter, so I helped them choose a great spot and we decided on Sprague Lake. Sprague Lake has a loop trail of less than 1 mile all the way around. The point with the best view, and dock overlooking the lake, is about half a mile in. In the snow, this can still be tricky, but luckily the trail was well packed and we did not need snow shoes. I definitely recommend micro spikes on this trail in the winter!
First, Gabby and Ryan got some photos in their matching bride and groom sweatshirts. Gabby’s had an R with a heart on hers, and Ryan’s had a heart with a G on his! They were so adorable! After a few casual pictures, they changed back into their wedding dress and suit. Then, we walked over to the dock overlooking Sprague Lake and the beautiful Rocky Mountains!
The views from Sprague lake are some of the best for how little work is required to see them! It’s one of my favorite ceremony sites in Rocky Mountain National Park too! If you are looking to elope within the park, it’s definitely a spot to consider! As we walked over to the spot, we passed all the snow-covered trees. It snowed the night before so it was a winter wonderland! Gabby and Ryan were definitely troopers in the cold! They took breaks to warm up their hands with some handwarmers I brought for them and then sipped hot cocoa when we got back to the trailhead! It was a beautiful session to further celebrate their new marriage!
