Together for 30 years
This is a very special anniversary session because I had the opportunity to take photos of my parents on a trip back home to Long Island. This month they are celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary! If you know my parents, you know they spend as much time as possible enjoying the beach together. It only seemed fitting to take photos for them at their favorite beach, Robert Moses State Park. We walked along the shore, enjoyed views of Fire Island Lighthouse, and shared many laughs during their portrait session!
My parents, Maggie and Darek, have quite the love story. If you don’t believe in soulmates, you just might change your mind after reading their story. They both immigrated from Poland in their mid-20’s. They never met in Poland, but met on Long Island through a mutual friend. Later they found out that back in Poland they had lived in the same city, only a few blocks apart from one another. It’s crazy to think that their paths could have crossed so many times! After they both flew across the world, to New York, they met each other and fell in love. It was truly meant to be!
They got married in April 1992 and the rest is history! They created a life together on Long Island, had me and my twin sister, and enjoyed trips back to Poland together to visit family.
I am so fortunate that I grew up in the presence of their love. Of course no one is perfect, but my parents’ love sure does come pretty close! Even as a kid, I could tell just how much they really meant to one another. They are the couple who always spends time together and truly enjoys every minute doing everything and nothing in each others presence.
I always remember this one framed photo in our home. You can see it on the left in the image above. It is one of my favorite photos of them and I wanted to try to replicate this moment during their photo session. I hope you enjoy their photos!

I can’t believe how amazing story you told us. I am so moved by all this idea of photographing your parents and replacing them after 30 years in the same frame and beach. Your parents are so cute!!! I am also Polish by the way.
