A perfect surprise in the Colorado mountains for a Loveland Pass Proposal! | Rachel and Steve
Steve reached out to me wanting to plan a surprise proposal while on his trip to Colorado with Rachel. He wanted beautiful mountain scenery and a spot that would not be super busy. We ultimately decided on a lake overlook near Loveland Pass for his Loveland Pass proposal!
Loveland Pass is a beautiful mountain pass in Colorado located near Keystone and Georgetown off of US Highway 6 at an elevation of 11,990 feet. The 360 mountain views are seriously breathtaking! Nearby there is also a nice little hike to Pass Lake. This is one of my favorite spots for proposals and elopements, especially of you want an alpine lake with incredible mountain views. Both sunrise and sunset are gorgeous up there.
Steve decided on a sunset proposal, which meant they would get to witness alpenglow on the surrounding peaks. We planned out what time for him to arrive with Rachel, where he needed to walk along the trail, and the spot for the proposal. The Proposal
When Steve walked Rachel over to the spot for the proposal, there was no one else around. Thankfully I brought my husband and our two dogs with us so that I was essentially hiding in plain site. As Rachel walked past us, she even asked if she could pet our dogs and apologized for getting in the way of photos I was taking of my husband. Little did she know, I was there to take photos of her!!! Steve walked her down the rest of the way to the spot we had discussed and got down on one knee. Rachel was in complete shock. She was so surprised and lots of tears were shed. It was the perfect moment and so serene that they had this beautiful spot all to themselves as the mountains began to glow. Pass Lake is so beautiful if you want to witness alpenglow in the mountains.
Champagne Pop
After wiping away so many happy tears, Rachel and Steve popped some champagne to celebrate! Champagne pop photos are the perfect little extra fun activity to add to a proposal gallery. The joy from these two was so clear and it was so obvious how happy they were to be engaged!
Exploring the Scenery!
As the sun continued to set and the mountains glowed, we walked around to enjoy the trails around the lake near Loveland Pass. There were still a few wildflowers hanging on so of course I took some photos of Rachel’s beautiful ring among the flowers. Summer proposals in Colorado are so stunning. Rachel and Steven’s love for one another made it even more beautiful!
