A beautiful golden hour Great Sand Dunes National Park Proposal | Dani and Ro
Ro reached out to me to plan the perfect Great Sand Dunes proposal to his girlfriend of five years! We discussed a few location options on our call, but when he mentioned Great Sand Dunes National Park, I knew that was where it needed to happen! Great Sand Dunes National Park is such a unique location with stunning mountain views and of course, huge sand dunes! If you plan your trip just right, you may also get a chance to splash around in the Medano Creek! With Ro’s proposal being in early May, this was the perfect time to catch the creek flowing! Everything about this proposal was just incredible!

Heading over to the proposal spot
In order to capture the moment, I arrived early to the area that Ro and I discussed. I sent him some maps and images of the trail so he knew exactly where to go. I just made myself look like I was taking pictures of the beautiful landscape, which I think was not out of place at all! Ro sent me photos of their outfits so I would be able to recognize them when they entered the dune field. Soon enough I spotted the two of them. Ro walked Dani over towards the creek and then they started to walk towards a little sand bar out in the water, which definitely made for the perfect proposal spot! I tried my best to follow them from a distance.
The Great Sand Dunes Proposal
Once Ro found the spot that felt right, he was ready to propose. He got down on one knee and of course Dani said yes! She had the absolute biggest smile on her face and then joined Ro in the sand to give him the biggest hug and kiss! I was absolutely in love with the stunning Montana sapphire that Ro picked out for Dani! Unique engagement rings are the best! After they took in the moment of being newly engaged, we headed up to get higher on the dunes.

The golden hour light hitting the dunes made for the most dreamy photos. Dani and Ro had fun running through the sand and creating foot prints in the ever-changing dunes! One thing I learned about Dani and Ro is that they love to go fishing together, which is reflected in their adorable tattoos that fit together. They have such fun relationship and even created a silly handshake over the years of being together. Of course, I had to document their handshake in a photo too!

As the sun started to set, we headed back down towards the creek. The water was quite cold, but that didn’t stop these two from having the best time and splashing around! It was so fun witnessing their joy in their relationship together and just taking in the moments of being officially engaged!
