A surprise proposal at Lost Gulch Overlook in Boulder | Darian and Sam

Darian and Sam came to Colorado from Texas for a nice vacation. They spent their time in Boulder enjoying all of the scenery that Colorado has to offer. Little did Darian know, Sam had a big surprise planned towards the end of their trip, a Lost Gulch Overlook Proposal!!!

If you have ever been to Lost Gulch Overlook in Boulder, you know just how scenic a spot it truly is! I actually had my wedding photos taken there. It is a location that holds a special place in my heart, so when Sam reached out about his plans and said that Lost Gulch Overlook was one of the places he was considering for the proposal, I was beyond excited! Sam originally wanted to propose during the day, but I told him the light would be better at sunrise or sunset if he was willing to be flexible. We planned for a sunset proposal after their dinner together.

The first surprise: the Lost Gulch Overlook proposal

I got to the spot early and texted Sam a photo of exactly where I thought would be a good location to get down on one knee. We discussed the area prior and I sent him photos from Google Earth too. Well, just as with everything in life, things don’t always go according to plan. Right when Sam and Darian arrived, a family was getting their photos taken in the spot he was going to propose. Luckily Sam spotted another area down the rocks that was even better and more private. I did my best to sneakily follow them as we climbed down some of the rocks to get in position. It was certainly a little adventure!

Once fully in position, Sam was ready to pop the question. He read Darian a little poem and then asked her to marry him. It was the sweetest moment and also so beautiful! The clouds were turning orange at the perfect moment! Darian was so beyond excited and her reaction to seeing her ring on her finger was priceless! She had no idea that there were still more surprises on their way.

Even more surprises!

Sam had organized for Darian’s parents and his mom to also travel out to Colorado for the special day! Darian’s Dad was hiding behind the rocks during the whole thing. When he popped out, Darian was in shock! Then after we took a few photos, her Mom also appeared. Everyone was so thrilled and you could just feel the love!
